Emerging Afro Fusion artiste, Phreeborn, a native of Delta State from Southern Nigeria releases a 3-track EP, “While We Wait, Vol. 1”.

While We Wait is a testament of Phreeborn’s state of mind – an emerging act on a voyage to success and breakthrough. The 3-track EP serves as Phreeborn’s second body of work following his first EP “Aphro Love” released in 2021.

The sound design on While We Wait, Vol. 1 is rich in vibes and melodies deeply rooted in the very elements of Afrobeats – groovy percussion and horns. Also, the lyricism and songwriting on each of the tracks on the EP has substance, conveying insights into the thought train of the songwriter, Phreeborn birth name Freeborn Chuks Ofiongor.

Phreeborn is on fire and flight mode on the opening track “Burn”, a high-spirit, feel good and inspirational rendition that will leave you energized and optimistic about life.

While “Burn” is a sweet experience, the tale on the second track “1960” is bittersweet: “Sipping that juice with pain/ Smoking that blunt in the rain”, Phreeborn sang with a purpose, taking his listeners back in time, down memories lanes.

1960 is the year Nigeria had her Independence but on the track Phreeborn was not just referring to that. He used 1960 as a synonym for the past. It’s left for the listeners to define what’s their 1960.

“Nightlife” – the last track on While We Wait, Vol. 1 is an euphoria, an escape from 1960 into the night where happiness and a good time are guaranteed.

Productions on the EP are credited to Drumstixx (Samuel Gwazah Terkula) who produced track 1 & 3 and Chidimania (Chidi Kingsley Oleru) produced track 2.

While We Wait is a sequel and a build up to the opening of Phreeborn’s jar (insert Pandora’s box). Look forward to Vol. 2.

Available on digital music stores, press play and listen to theĀ Vol. 1.
